Your story is unique & so is my approach to it.

Celebrate the fun and laughter and I’ll be there to capture it artfully and truthfully. I combine documentary & editorial photography on both film & digital for timeless, natural photos.

You want to be in the moment for your day!

and still get epic photos

Not a fan of being photographed? I hear ya, I don’t think anyone does! I like to work in a relaxed, creative documentary style veering away from traditional posed wedding photography.

Whilst I still take the traditional ‘formal’ shots of your family, the special moments and reactions from you and your guests are just as important as well as all the little details you spent time creating for your day. I’ll steal you away for a few shorter couple photo sessions lasting 10-15 minutes so you can enjoy your day.

We are a perfect match if:

You want stylish but laid-back photos

I work in a documentary style with some creative direction

You want to have fun and be in the moment

I’m here for the laughter and emotional moments

You want photos that feel like your day

My film & digital combination will take anyone viewing your gallery back to your day

LET’S DO THIS

I create laid-back photos with feeling

WHY I’m a Wedding Photographer

As a wedding photographer, my aim is to capture memories for you to share with generations to come. Having family photos dating back to 1894 is so powerful and important to me. My great granny was an avid photographer and had a super8 camera and I feel so grateful to have these photos.

When my grandad had his stroke in 2015, it completely changed my mindset about my business and the meaning of what I do. I connected on Facebook with a distant family member who sent me copies of a family album with photos of him. His long-term memory was the first thing to come back. He could remember everything in the old photos and the super8 film and had such joy from it. When I took the photos, it was the first time I had seen him really smile since he had the stroke. He reminisced about his cousins and laughed at the stories behind the images.

In 2019 I started climbing munros as he loves looking at his old albums of his munro bagging. When climbing my first munro I got chatting with a man who must have been a similar age to my granddad, I told him my story and my WHY and he said how amazing it was that I was doing it. As I reached the top I could feel the tears in my eyes.

The connections we have with each other mean so much, the memories, the photos. The legacy of who we are and the story of our journey through life. Weddings are such an important part of life and I’m so honoured to be part of every wedding I photograph.

Approach: moments, emotions & memories.

To me photography is all about telling a story, capturing the emotion of weddings and creating memories. We are all so special, and unique and each couple I work with has a different story and I always end up with a tear in my eye during the ceremony and speeches.

I like to work in a relaxed, creative documentary style with an editorial edge veering away from traditional posed wedding photography. I work without flash where possible making the use of available light to capture the emotion and mood of the day. Whilst I still take the traditional ‘formal’ shots of your family, the special moments and reactions from you and your guests are just as important as all the little details you spent time creating for your day.

Unless you want to spend lots of time doing photos or are having an elopement… I’ll normally steal you away for 2 or 3 smaller sessions lasting 10-15 minutes. If the weather is looking iffy we might pop out for one 30 mins session or switch things up a bit. I LOVE to photograph during the ‘golden hour’ when the light is at its best, so I might steal you out during dessert if I see some nice light.

In this digital era I believe that wedding books are even more important than ever and will be the first heirloom for your family. My family albums are so important to me.

THE EXPERIENCE

Your wedding photography is not just for capturing beautiful, timeless photos, but also about working with a professional who makes you feel confident and gives you an enjoyable process from the beginning to the end.

I’m so excited to be part of your wedding day!! In order to enquire, the first step is to fill out the contact form. The next step is to arrange a chat with me via zoom or in person. I like to get to know my couples before booking, to be sure, we make a great fit. I only take on limited weddings per year so I can put everything into each wedding.

We have chatted on Zoom or in person and we are a good fit. This is when you tell me it’s a go and set up your client portal, woo hooo!! You will then sign the contract, make your payment via BACS, PayPal or Stripe, and we are set!!

We will be in contact LOADS during your wedding planning. We can keep in touch via email, text or social media and be besties. I send out lots of guides to help you plan your wedding day! 6 weeks from your wedding I will send out a final details form and we will catch up on zoom or in person before your wedding day. This is the exciting stage where everything becomes so fun and real!!

All the organisation we have done ahead of the wedding will make your day go super smoothly! Enjoy the day and I’ll document every moment for you.

Within a week of the session or wedding, I send out a sneak peek gallery. Then your final images are complete within your online gallery, within 8 to 12 weeks of your shoot date for weddings and 2 to 4 weeks, for any other session. Any albums and prints can be ordered after your images have been delivered.

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

Absolutely, before booking, I will meet you for a consultation where we will discuss your wedding plans and what you are looking for in terms of photography. If you don’t live locally or are planning a destination wedding to Edinburgh I am happy to chat over the phone or zoom / skype.

I have photographed in a huge range of wedding venues across Edinburgh and beyond. If I have never been to your venue before we can arrange a visit to your venue but it’s not normally needed.

If I’ve not been to a venue before I find that arriving an hour ahead of my photography start time is perfect. I can plan for how I’m going to photograph your day based on the weather forecast and lighting conditions on the day.

I have a car and I am happy to drive to wherever you are getting married, or jump of a plane if you are planning a destination wedding! My packages include travel within 75 miles from my home in Edinburgh; we can discuss travel arrangements out with this distance.

My full-day package covers up to 10 hours including morning preparations through to an hour after the first dance. I also offer shorter micro wedding and elopement packages, multi-day options – I am happy to cover as much of your wedding as you would like me me there for.

Yes, I am happy to take whatever formal images you want on the day. I take these as quickly as possible so you can get back to enjoying your day. I recommend working from the biggest to smallest shots to help make this as organised as possible. I will also do a creative couple photo session with you lasting around 20-30 mins.

I use high-quality Canon digital cameras and mostly use the Canon R5 mirrorless camera and 5D MK4 DSLR as well as Canon and Sigma lenses for all my weddings.

For film photography, I use the Canon 1V, EOS3 and Pentax MX 35mm cameras and Pentax 645N medium format camera.

I always bring 3 digital Camera bodies, 3 film cameras and around 6 lenses and 4 flashes so I am always prepared and have backups!

I normally take between 2000-3000 digital images per wedding depending on the length of coverage you choose on the day, from this I deliver around 600-800 images. You can see some examples of weddings over on my blog. I always deliver digital images in both colour and black & white versions of everything.

Alongside my digital images, I photograph 4-5 rolls of film between 35mm and medium format. You’ll typically receive around 100 film photos. My negatives are scanned at high resolution and your film photos are delivered digitally with your gallery. Negatives can be provided for an additional cost.

Yes, I have professional indemnity and public liability insurance. My equipment is also insured. I can provide copies on request.

Yes, you will receive a gallery of your final images from which you can download everything in high resolution or web size. You can add on a USB if you wish.

You have copyright permission to use the images for personal use so you can make your own prints. I also have an e-commerce website linked to your gallery from which you or your friends and family can buy prints directly from me.

I always try and get my images as perfect as possible on camera. I aim to edit with true colours and natural warmth. I edit all images individually using professional retouching techniques including exposure, colour correction, and natural skin retouching including removing of blemishes. I use lightroom and photoshop for my editing. Specialist image retouching can be done on request for an additional charge.

I offer 2 types of albums at the moment. I offer a premium photo book as well as fine art albums. I am happy to discuss your exact requirements with you.

A pre-wedding or engagement shoot takes place before your wedding. It gives you a chance to feel relaxed in front of the camera before your wedding. We will spend 2-3 hours on location taking images. These are great to frame around your home, use as an invitation or on a guestbook for your wedding day. If you are interested in doing this please let me know. You can view some of my engagement and pre-wedding shoot images here.

I typically carry 3 cameras with me on a wedding day between digital and film. If you prefer a film focus I can use one digital and 2 film or for a digital focus I use 2 digital and 1 film camera.

My film photos are developed either by myself or by a professional film lab. My negatives are scanned at print resolution and delivered digitally via your online gallery. You can print all film photos from the digital scans. Your negatives are available on request for £100 per roll of film.

No, I also love photographing families, boudoir, and creative fashion photography.

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland but available worldwide.

Say Hello

Can we print from our analogue film scans?

Absolutely 100% YES!! I always deliver high resolution scans so you can print directly from the scans. I recommend having your photos printed on fine art paper.

I wanted to see how my film scans would look printed in an album and omg I am so in love. The images in this album were taken on a mix of 35mm & 120 medium format film. I went for a luxury matted style album with a minimalistic feel with a nostalgic vibe similar to my parents wedding album but with a more modern feel.

A matted album is when your photos have a “frame” similar to how you would hang your photos on the wall vs a lay flat album where your photos are printed flat onto the page with no frame.

If you are printing film photos, or a mix of film and digital I would recommend the matted style of album. They just feel like a work of art.

Can we still get traditional prints from the negatives?
Yes!! I can do darkroom prints for you and also have a lab that can print from your negatives. I would suggest having darkroom printed photos framed and put on your walls. Each photo is printed by hand using an enlarger, photo paper and photographic chemistry and is a unique work of art.

Let’s get those photos off our computer and phone screens and get them printed. Get in touch via email or DM if you would like a chat about albums or prints of your wedding photos.
Life is too short, do the things you love ✨

I always used to be scared to put myself out there because I felt like I wasn’t good enough. During my 20s I stopped caring so much and just went out and started doing the things I was scared of and living my life to the fullest.

I danced on stages with audiences of thousands of people but I’m not the most talented dancer. I got to be in the TV show outlander but I’m not a trained actress.

It still blows my mind that impulsively saying “yes” to photographing a friend of a friends wedding has lead me to the job I have today.

I’m so thankful for it all. You don’t have to be perfect, just say yes and do the thing ✨
