NETHERBYRES HOUSE WEDDING
“The photos are all gorgeous and we can’t stop scrolling through them. She captured all of the details perfectly. She was also so helpful and organised in the lead-up to the wedding, providing really practical and detailed planning templates and advice for the day scheduling and photos. She was so communicative every step of the way”

Viv & Jay — “The Book of Vows” ✨
One of my favourite parts of this job is the people I get to meet and the instant connections that form.
Viv & Jay travelled all the way from Georgia, USA to elope in Edinburgh. From the moment I walked into their suite (with the new Blood Orange album playing, no less), it felt like I was spending the day with old friends rather than a couple I’d only just met.
We bonded over music, movies, art and books, laughed our way through the day, and shared such a special little slice of time together. Their intimate ceremony at Dunbar’s Close Gardens was beautiful, followed by wandering Edinburgh’s cobbled streets before finishing with a celebratory drink at Virgin Hotels.
All captured #onfilm (35mm + medium format)… except the last frame, which is digital with an old film camera flash because honestly, that combo is just iconic.
Viv & Jay, you two are absolute magic, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of your day 💫

I’m not usually one to follow trends… but couldn’t say no to this one 👌🏻

Some nostalgic old Hollywood magic in the Italian sunshine from a photoshoot at @villa_subaglio ✨
All shot on medium format and 35mm film on my canon 1V, mamiya 6 and bronica rf645
I took inspiration from old movies into this shoot from the vintage Porsche, stunning florals, a golden hour first dance, and Gatsby vibes all the way through. Honestly, a dream from start to finish.
More soon from this sunshine-drenched, joy-filled photoshoot 🍋🎞️

Going back to my roots: photographing live music #onfilm 🎞️
I fell in love with photography as a teenager in art class, borrowing my parents’ Pentax 35mm camera and learning my way around the school darkroom. At 16, I started sneaking that little camera and a 50mm lens into gigs…chasing atmosphere, energy, and the raw chaos of live music.
By 18 I had my first digital camera, and I was photographing concerts and music festivals and some of my heroes: Patti Smith, Grace Jones, Vivienne Westwood, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Pixies, Franz Ferdinand, Manic Street Preachers and many more. My work ended up in magazines, newspapers, album sleeves and tour brochures. It was wild.
I last did music photography way back in 2015, and last month I challenged myself to give it a go again! I took my Canon 33V (a fairly entry level 35mm camera), a nifty 50mm, and two rolls of film to Edinburgh Psych Fest.
The first time I’d photographed live music on film since I was a teenager. And I’m honestly so proud of what I captured.
As a photographer, I’m a firm believer in pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. That’s where the magic happens. It was so amazing to reconnect with why I started in the first place.

A hazy golden summer evening in Glencoe ✨
Captured on Portra 400 + Gold 200, because film just sings in this kind of light.
We wandered through the hills, soaked up that dreamy glow, and made some magic together. The kind of evening that feels like it belongs in memory as much as on film.
(Also known as “the one where my car nearly broke down” but totally worth it!).
Counting down the days until I get to photograph these two again for their wedding next year. It’s going to be incredible.

An ode to light leaks ✨🎞️
The unpredictable flashes that sneak their way into film frames, unplanned, imperfect, and full of magic.
They remind me that photography isn’t about control or perfection. About letting chance, light, and time have their say in the story.
Sometimes they feel nostalgic, like sun-faded memories. Sometimes they’re bold and cinematic, streaking across the frame with energy you could never plan. They’re always beautiful and part of the charm and unpredictable nature of film.
Here’s to the accidents that turn into art.
Ps. Oh and I do keep all of my film kit well maintained and serviced but they do like to sneak in sometimes. Also please tell me I’m not the only one that it always happens to with Cinestill 800t!

Gillian & Blair in the gorgeous Benmore Botanic Gardens 🌿✨ All captured #onfilm with canon 1V and Mamiya 6
Gillian said to me “The botanic gardens that holds a lot of significance for us both as we grew up visiting there almost weekly for walks with our families”
When couples choose locations with such personal meaning, the photos always feel extra special.
Nestled in the mountains, Benmore feels like something out of a film set – lush, cinematic, and full of atmosphere.
It even brought back my own memories of childhood trips here for school camp!
The perfect backdrop for an engagement shoot filled with love, laughter, and a touch of nostalgia.
Soooo excited for your wedding next year aaaaaahhh!!!!

Happy anniversary to Ashton & Blake – how has it been a year already?
All photos taken #onfilm (35mm & medium format)
I get a lot of questions about film photography and how it’s going to look in a dark venue. The answer is, full of atmosphere and drama. I could have shared almost every frame from this dream of a day.
I pushed my film stocks, used some flash and let the colours and feel of the film shine through. I’m absolutely ready to embrace all my upcoming autumn and winter weddings.

Earlier this month I escaped Edinburgh (and the chaos of Oasis + the Fringe) for the most joyful day with Starsi & Declan ✨
Torrential rain showers couldn’t dampen the laughter, if anything, they made it even better. One of my favourite moments? The bridal party sprinting across a rain-soaked lawn, barefoot and laughing. Iconic.
This summer has been pure magic, and this day was right at the heart of it

Embracing my individuality was the most powerful shift I’ve made as a photographer.
For so long, I tried to be what I thought a “wedding photographer” should be. I played small, polished my edges, and created work I thought people wanted to see. And honestly? I burned myself out in the process.
I spent 2021 and 2022 catching up on Covid postponements, not taking time for myself, my endometriosis progressively got worse and I knew that couldn`t go on.
Everything changed when I stopped trying to fit in, when I stopped letting the wedding industry consume me and leaned fully into me.
My art school roots.
My love of film, grain, and imperfection.
My burlesque days, my dance and acting, my nostalgia, my quirks, my love of music, art and cinema, and my neurodivergence.
All of it belongs.
All of it shapes the way I see the world.
The moment I allowed those pieces of myself to show up in my work, everything shifted.
My creativity came back to life, and the couples who found me were the ones who really got me.
The secret isn’t fitting in.
The secret is showing up as yourself.
Unapologetically, beautifully, fully.

Still not over the golden light and dreamy skies this summer has given us — with Aimee & Iain’s wedding at @broxmouthcourtyard serving pure Italian sunshine vibes 🌞✨
Even the film gave me the most gorgeous light leaks, adding that little bit of magic you just can’t plan for.
When they first got in touch, they described their vision and I was instantly hooked:
“We loved the Italian feel of the cobblestone courtyard, so we’re taking inspiration from that. We’re a relaxed couple and our main priority is making sure people are well fed, the drinks are flowing, and there’s plenty of laughter. We’re thinking fresh white flowers, candles, Aperol and Prosecco, a gelato truck, and late-night pizza…”
Honestly?
A total vibe. Aperols flowing, gelato in the sunshine, late-night pizza, and so much laughter, what a dream to capture.
I’m absolutely in love with how the film scans came back. Shot on #canon1v #bronicarf645 & #mamiya6
