Captured artfully on 35mm film & digital ✨
Dev & scan of film by @southsun
There’s something almost magical about photographing weddings on film ✨🎞️
Digital is brilliant, but film? It delivers warmth, depth, texture and soul in a way digital just can’t.
For me, film is about slowing down. It’s about really seeing light, moment, space. It taught me to trust my instincts one frame (or maybe two) to capture the story, not hundreds of identical clicks.
It’s the intangible things:
• the grain that murmurs nostalgia
• the light leaks and “happy accidents” that feel like memories you don’t quite remember
• the physical negative in your hand, the print flipping in your fingers, not just a pixel on the screen
When I went back to photographing on film, I reconnected with everything that originally drew me into photography: my mum and dad and their love of photography, the stacks of old family albums, learning photography on film at high school, my art school days, live music photography and it elevates every image I make.
So yes: I’m absolutely still shooting digital, but my heart? It leans into film. Because your wedding day? It deserves more than good. It deserves to feel like something you’ll remember, not just see.
If you’ve ever wondered what film can bring to your wedding, I’d love to show you.
The thing I love most about wedding photography is the unique energy and authenticity all my couples bring into their day.
Documenting weddings, I always want to feel like what I capture honours who each couple is and their unique relationships with everyone around them.
Laura and Anthony brought their style and energy into their day with a nod to emo and Laura’s love of roller derby. Videos of their favourite films at table centre pieces and of course couple photos in the graveyard!
All photos captured #onfilm

“He’ll wrap you in his arms, tell you that you’ve been a good boy
He’ll rekindle all those dreams it took you a lifetime to destroy
He’ll reach deep into the hole, heal your shrinking soul
Hey buddy, you know you’re never ever coming back
He’s a ghost, he’s a god, he’s a man, he’s a guru
They’re whispering his name across this disappearing land
But hidden in his coat is a red right hand”

October is always my favourite time of year to visit Glencoe. I’m off back there today to capture another beautiful elopement tomorrow, I’ve loved looking back at the film photos from Erin and John’s misty day back in 2023.
Still not emotionally over Sicily! Honestly, what a dream! 🇮🇹☀️
The pool at Braccialieri was straight out of a retro movie set, and I was living my kitschy vintage fantasy (no surprises there if you know me!).
Thank you to @editorialsbynicoladixon for arranging a gorgeous few days of retro charm with timeless Sicilian elegance…sunshine, Aperols, olive trees, and that effortless Mediterranean romance that makes destination weddings feel so magical.
These images are all captured on digital , but I can’t wait to share the film scans soon (i shot 8 rolls of 35mm and 3 rolls of 120 over the 2 day photoshoot!)🎞️✨
If you’re planning a destination wedding and want images full of warmth, atmosphere, and a touch of vintage soul. I’m so here for it! I still have availability for both 2026 & 2027.

A few 35mm and 120 film favourites from May & Sam’s incredible day at @rcpevenue in July ✨it was such an joy to have it featured in print and digital on @tietheknotscotland
These two have the most romantic story: they met on an oyster farm in Japan (I mean… come on! How perfect is that?). Their wedding was a beautiful blend of cultures, travel, and love, with family and friends joining them from Japan, the USA, and across the UK to celebrate in the heart of Edinburgh.
A day full of elegance, connection, and so much joy… and this is just a tiny glimpse of it. The film photos just capture the energy of the day so perfectly 🎞️
Thank you to @southsun for being the most amazing film lab.

One of the biggest reasons I went back to shooting on film was to take my photography away from pixels on a screen and make it something physical again 🎞️✨
Over the past 18 months I’ve loved spending time back in the darkroom at @stillsedinburgh — first re-learning how to develop my own film and print in the darkroom, and more recently experimenting with split grade printing (a whole new skill for me, and one I’m now a little obsessed with).
Swipe to see the difference: the lab scans by @southsun alongside my own darkroom prints and process. There’s something so grounding about making work with your hands again.
In the new year I’ll be offering hand-printed black & white darkroom prints (once I make a dent in my editing pile 🙃).
If you’d love a darkroom print made from your own b&w negatives, get in touch. And colour printing? That’s the next challenge on my list.
Alfresco summer dining goals ✨ All captured #onfilm both 35mm & 120 on #canon1v #bronicarf645 & #mamiya6 with #portra400 and #kodakgold200

Sarah & Ryan – The Secret Garden
It was such a joy to go back to where I grew up and photograph Sarah and Ryan for their pre-wedding shoot. The beautiful ruins of an old estate beside my grandparents house on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Where I used to daydream about being Mary from “The Secret Garden” and hear stories from my uncle about the eccentric old man that used to live the house. Thank you for trusting my vision ✨
“Sometimes since I’ve been in the garden I’ve looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden – in all the places.”
Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
