Why to elope to Edinburgh
Imagine eloping to Edinburgh, Scotland, a city renowned for it;s history, culture, beautifull architecture and gorgeous natural landscapes. The city offers a variety of settings, from cobblestone streets, historic architecture of the Old Town, New Town and Dean Village along with with the incredible Arthur’s Seat landscapes. Alongside this you have the culture, incredible luxury accomidation options and fine dining options. It makes for a perfect choice for your elopement, especially if an outdoor adventure elopement doesn’t feel like you as a couple.

Why HAVE YOUR ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHED ON 35MM FILM?
The feeling and nostalgia of analogue film with the colour and grain of the images is the true magic of film. Film photography possesses a distinctive and timeless quality that digital cameras simply cannot replicate.
Film wedding photography brings a tangible, nostalgic element to your wedding memories. The act of flipping through a photo album filled with printed images is a sensory experience that digital screens simply cannot match. This is why I always recommend having a wedding album or printing your film photos. You can print both from the digital scans, or from the negatives if you have access to a darkroom printing facility.

Edinburgh City Chambers is a Registry Office located on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Rozzie and Alex close the Alexander Suite for their wedding but you do have a choice of a few different rooms. It is perfect for anyone looking for a simple ceremony. Nested in the heart of the historical Royal Mile it provides a romantic backdrop for your elopement.

EDINBURGH ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS
Rozzie and Alex chose the beautiful Gleneagles Townhouse for their preparations and their meal. Gleneagles Townhouse is a beautifully renovated hotel full of period character and charm. After their ceremony at City Chambers, I took Rozzie and Alex around some of my favourite spots in Edinburgh for their couples photographs including Parliament Square, St. Giles Cathedral, Victoria St, The Vennel Steps and Dean Village.

A Photographer’s Connection to Edinburgh
I have lived in Edinburgh my whole life so photographing here is always really special to me. I can trace my family in Scotland back nearly 500 years, one of my ancestors was born in Edinburgh in 1585. I have a love of old architecture, thanks to my dad who has done a lot of work in historical building conservation in some of the most iconic Edinburgh buildings. I spend a lot of time walking around Edinburgh looking for perfect locations for photography so I always have a back-up plan for when Edinburgh gets busy!! Alongside being behind the camera, I also do a lot of film and TV acting and extras work and have been on a lot of sets in the city, including One Day on Netfilix. I’m hugely inspired by how cinematographers and directors work on sets and bring this inspiration into my photography.

“Half a capital and half a country town, the whole city leads a double existence; it has long trances of the one and flashes of the other; like the king of the Black Isles, it is half alive and half a monumental marble.”
― Robert Louis Stevenson, Edinburgh: Picturesque Notes
