Earlier this year, I got to capture the most incredible surprise proposal on a secret beach in East Lothian, just outside of Edinburgh.
After a stroll down the beach, Jacon proposed to Allison with a background of romantic castle ruins and the sea hitting the rocks beside them. She said yes. We were lucky to avoid the rain and the proposal took place between rain showers with the moody skies creating the most romantic feeling.
They had been on a trip around Scotland from the USA, Scotland is the most incredible and special place and it will be even more special and meaningful for them both now. Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Scotland, with their proposal taking place in East Lothian just 45 minutes away from Edinburgh. I couldn’t think of a more beautiful backdrop than a historical castle for a proposal. With the location being a private beach, we were blessed to have the place to ourselves for the perfect romantic feeling.

Planning your romantic Scottish proposal.
HOW IT WORKS
I will work with you to plan your dream proposal in Edinburgh or Scotland! It begins with a chat on zoom about your location plans and ideas. I have lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for my whole life and have an in-depth knowledge of stunning locations to make for the perfect proposal. If you are based in Scotland we can visit the location ahead of the day. Otherwise, I can scout the location for you and send a plan of how to get to the location and where to propose (what 3 words is my BFF!).
BEFORE THE PROPOSAL
We will make a plan for your proposal and keep in touch via WhatsApp (the location-sharing option is ideal so I can see where you are!). I will arrive at the location about 45 minutes before you so that I can get my kit ready. A lot of the locations are very tourist friendly so I can blend in with my camera. We will have decided on an action like a hug to signal the proposal and I will jump in to take photos.
AFTER THE PROPOSAL
I’ll introduce myself! We will celebrate the moment with a glass of fizz and a couple photoshoot to celebrate your engagement. After the shoot I will send a preview within 48 hours so you can share your happy news with friends and family!!
