Photography
I am a wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, and I love the energy and excitement of a wedding day. The connections we share are invaluable, and the memories captured in photographs are timeless. I specialize in creating stylish, joyful images that evoke genuine emotions.

Scotland Elopement Photographer
I am passionate about capturing city elopements, micro-weddings, and adventurous ceremonies throughout Scotland and beyond.
Let’s do things differently, authentic love and connection for adventurous souls.

I’M LORAINE
(SHE/HER)

I am an Edinburgh-based wedding photographer specializing in both digital and analogue film (both 35mm and medium format). Since 2009, I have photographed over 300 weddings, and I love every moment. My journey in photography began with 35mm film, fueled by my passion for art, nostalgia for old movies, vintage fashion, and the romance of Scotland.
I work in a creative, and modern documentary style blended with some editorial direction. This allows me to naturally and artfully narrate the story of your wedding day which feels authentic.
There is no greater joy than photographing the happiest moments alongside awesome people. Each couple I work with is unique, which is what I love so much about wedding photography. I approach every wedding with that in mind to tell your story as a couple, alongside the narrative of the day.
I find joy in capturing the connections between people and the excitement and joy that a wedding day brings. I have a love for adventure and the architecture and landscapes across Scotland. While I am based in Edinburgh, I am available to document your wedding or elopement in Scotland and beyond.
I am proudly a LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive wedding photographer.

SAY HELLO
Please get in touch if you would like to enquire about my wedding photography or just say hello!
Based in Edinburgh, Scotland but available worldwide.

She said yes…. Swipe for the proposal!!
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to share this beautiful proposal I captured at the end of January on a mix of 35mm film & digital. Dan surprised Chloe just after sunrise with a stunning proposal at Calton Hill. Her smile was just so beautiful and they had the most beautiful love and connection with each other.
I still have some availability in 2025 for surprise proposals & couples photoshoots so get in touch if you are looking for a photographer.

I’m a huge advocate for continuing to learn and improve both as a photographer and as a business person to give my couples and clients the best possible experience of working with me. The last few days I’ve been watching an online summit for photographers hosted by @micaelakarinaphotography
One of the talks was by @corriemahrphoto on how to set up Chat GPT for your wedding photography business. I followed along and set it up. One of the prompts she gave was to analyse online reviews so I asked Chat GPT to summarise the key points in my google reviews. The results made me so full of joy as it pretty much describes how I aim to make all my couples feel working with me.
Here’s what it said:
Effortless – Describes how natural and comfortable clients feel during their shoots.
Authentic – Reflects your ability to capture real, unscripted moments.
Elegant – Highlights the timeless and refined quality of your photography.
Emotive – Shows how well you capture deep emotions and meaningful connections.
Bespoke – Emphasizes your tailored approach, making each couple’s story unique.
I might be a gal who loves the analogue and vintage clothes… but on the other hand I really love technology. I wouldn’t have been able to go through the reviews and summarise them like that ✨

Lois and Stuart’s winter elopement in the Scottish Borders #onfilm
My last wedding of 2024 was a magical day with this pair who came from Austria to Scotland for their elopement with 2 of their friends to join the adventure. They combined the beautiful interiors of @cringletie with the stunning landscapes of Grey Mares Trail near Moffat for their couple photos. Absolutely perfect for a winter elopement.

This made me so emotional to reflect back on and think about. Thank you to @jennaececelia for starting this trend ✨
I took my 18 year old self out for coffee. We were both 10 minutes late. You ordered a mocha and I ordered a lemon and ginger tea. We both wore vintage clothes and black eyeliner in a flick. Some things never change.
You had just left school after a lifetime of being bullied and were studying art. Embracing life being happy for the first time ever and building up self confidence after years of having none. You had just won a photography competition and had work published in the Scotsman newspaper and got to photograph at T in the park music festival. Had met Martin Parr who had looked at your portrait work and given you the confidence to be a photographer.
You took being bullied and stopped trying to fit in. You found your sense of self, authenticity, imagination and taste never being something or someone you are not. Knowing who are would be your superpower as a photographer always photographing from the heart rather than trying to be popular.
She couldn’t believe everything I’ve achieved in life. She never thought that doing photography as a job would ever be something that would become a reality. That I own my own house and have a husband and a dog.
I told her I’ll forever be proud of her for being brave and strong when things were hard. I told her she is stronger and more talented than she will ever realise. It will take time for it to click, but the internal validation will come with time.

How do you want to look at your wedding photos in 10, 20 or even 50 years time? How do you want your children or grandchildren to look at your photos?
With the digital age, I feel we have stopped valuing having our photos printed. Images live on phones, USB sticks, had drives and never get printed. You go to find them years later and the technology is now obsolete. When I started photographing weddings I would deliver digital images on a DVD disk.
One of the reasons why I went back to photographing on film again was my love for the physical. We have family photos going all the way back to 1894 and nothing feels better than getting out an album. I look at our own wedding album way more than I do the digital photos.
I wanted to see how my film scans would look printed in an album and omg I am so in love. The images in this album were taken on a mix of 35mm & 120 medium format film. I went for a luxury matted style album with a minimalistic feel with a nostalgic vibe similar to my parents wedding album but with a more modern feel.
A matted album is when your photos have a “frame” similar to how you would hang your photos on the wall vs a lay flat album where your photos are printed flat onto the page with no frame.
If you are printing film photos, or a mix of film and digital I would recommend the matted style of album. They just feel like a work of art.
Can we still get traditional prints from the negatives?
Yes!! I can do darkroom prints for you and also have a lab that can print from your negatives. I would suggest having darkroom printed photos framed and put on your walls. Each photo is printed by hand using an enlarger, photo paper and photographic chemistry and is a unique work of art.
Let’s get those photos off our computer and phone screens and get them printed. Get in touch via email or DM if you would like a chat about albums or prints of your wedding photos.
Do you have an album of your wedding photos?

The magical autumn Scottish wedding of @nicolle_lynn & @bryendesjardin from last September #onfilm 🎞️ (35mm & medium format)
Oh-my-gosh I still can’t get over the beautiful autumnal colours and feel of the beautiful @maplehursthouse in the Scottish Borders. I used a mix of colour as well as black and white film to capture the timeless feeling of their day. It just looks like it belongs in a movie.
They had their first look under the historic trees before saying their personal vows to each other. Then had a ceremony with their closest friends and family on the lawn.
Thank you again for having me photograph your dream of a day.

It’s all about the guests ✨ film & digital
Capturing the people at a wedding is just as important to be as the photos of the couple getting married. Losing my granddad last year really hit me with just how important having those photos, particularly with parents and grandparents is.
Some of my favourite photos from when I got married are the ones of my parents, like the reaction of my dad when he seen me in my dress for the first time.
Looking for a wedding photographer for your 2025 & 2026 wedding? I still have availability and would love to hear from you.

Today marks 9 years of owning my Ice Blue coloured R56 Mini. It’s been such a joy driving this car all over Scotland and the UK photographing weddings and elopements. I’ve had sooo many of my couples in this car.
My dad drove me in my car when I got married 2 years ago. I’ve got so many incredible memories of good times in this car. I loved this time in Glencoe when I parked in the Skyfall spot in Glen Etive.

What’s in my camera bag as a film wedding photographer.
I always get asked what cameras I use to photograph weddings on analogue film so here’s what’s in my bag:
35mm cameras:
– Pentax MX
– Canon eos 1V
– Canon eos 3
– Canon eos 33v
– Canon Autoboy 2 point and shoot
Medium Format:
– Pentax 645n
– Holga
Super 8:
Canon 318M
Which cameras I use depends on the venue and the flow of the day. I typically use 1 digital camera (with a back up on site) and 2-3 film cameras. Usually 2 x 35mm and my Pentax 645 for portraits and details.
